OBJECTIVE: The Customs Compliance Manager is responsible for operations and compliance related to Primark’s US customs activities and reports to the Head of US Customs Compliance. The US Customs team is an integral part of the wider global Primark customs function. This newly created position entails management in a large apparel and accessories retail environment and partners with colleagues at Primark in Europe. Customs compliance functions include criteria such as tariff classification, country of origin marking, compliance auditing, partner government agencies requirements, FTZ compliance, duty drawback, etc. Strong knowledge of Customs Compliance in retail apparel is required.
Provide support for Customs Compliance and FTZ operations for the Company
Management of Customs Compliance functions: entry compliance, audit, free trade agreements, etc.
Enhance current Customs Compliance audit program
Develop new Customs Compliance procedures as and when needed and update Manual/SOPs
Maintain records in accordance with regulations
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders regarding supply chain
Customs broker and other service provider compliance
Monitor partner government agency requirements (Food and Drug Administration, Fish and Wildlife)
Involvement in supply chain security and the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT)
Manage other compliance projects where needed and assigned by senior management
Undergraduate degree preferred
Licensed Customs Broker required
3+ years of customs experience
3+ years of project management or quality systems experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
Ability to pass a criminal history and background check, as required and conducted by US Customs
Travel requirement estimate is less than 10%
