Retail Supervisor

Role: Retail Supervisor

Purpose of role:To contribute to the overall performance of the store through effective staff supervision, promotion of sales, enhancement of customer service, and maintenance of company standards.

Reports to:Department Manager

Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Commercial Focus
  • Ensure effective operation of the cash registers to minimize lines and ensure high levels of customer service
  • Direct the work flow of staff in designated departments in conjunction with the department manager to achieve goals focused on sales, customer service, and selling floor operating standards
  • Perform supervisor functions on registers in line with policy and procedure
  • Ensure staff compliance with company cash register procedure
  • Ensure all stock price reductions are executed and aligned with company policy
  • Ensure understanding of Primark’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy
Customer Service – Responsible for leading the team and delivering excellent customer service
  • Deliver exceptional Customer Service consistent with our Customer Promise
  • Recognize, celebrate and share examples of great customer service
  • Consistently promote the Primark Customer Promise and demonstrate the key expectations of good customer service
  • Be passionate about the importance of excellent customer service in Primark
Merchandising
  • Ensure that merchandise is presented at a high level at all times to maximize sales
  • Ensure that Point of Sale and all ticketing is in line with legislative requirements and company policy and procedures
  • Communicate with the management team daily on layoutchanges or moves within your department
Stock Management
  • Be aware of stock and new lines in the department and use available resources to ensure that best sellers and new stock are promoted
  • Communicate with staff regarding key lines and products to focus attention on throughout the selling day
  • Replenish stock to ensure sufficient levels in the department to deliver maximum sales performance
  • Participate in the maintenance of the stockroom area as needed and work to maintain high standards at all times
People
  • Assist the management team to plan and carry out regular staff training sessions and new hire on-boarding
  • Ensure that company standards regarding hygiene, grooming, appearance and dress code are maintained
  • Compile daily plan for lunches, breaks, registers and fitting room cover
  • React to the changing requirements of the business through the day
  • In conjunction with the management team and HR manager, monitor staff attendance and time keeping
  • Participate with management team for overtime planning and reviewing staff hours for payroll completion
Operating Standards
  • Ensure that standards are maintained throughout the day andrecovery is completed daily
  • Ensure cash registers are maintained in line with the Store Operations Manual and supplies are replenished regularly
  • Ensure pricing and ticketing procedures are carried out in line with company policy
  • Carry out stock take procedures in line with company policy
Environment, Health & Safety
  • Assist the management team in ensuring that all methods of work are carried out according to policy on EHS
  • Be alert to any potential hazards within your department
  • Ensure staff place equipment to ensure safety of all staff and customers
Security
  • Be fully aware of company policy regarding customer or staff theft and follow appropriate procedures
  • Maintain security of cash registers
  • Maintain security of register keys/ pass codes at all times
  • Comply with company procedures on staff searches

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
  • 2 years store-based retail experience
  • 1 year fashion value retail experience
  • 2 years experience in supervisory capacity
  • High school diploma or GED
